HMH-462
Phu Bai 1968-69
40 years have passed, but we have not forgotten...
Welcome to this website... created in October of 2008... and dedicated to the officers and
enlisted personnel who served with Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron 462 in Phu Bai, South
Vietnam during the period of August 1968 - September 1969. The content is based substantially
upon the yearbook that was produced while we were in country. I believe Lt. Ed Hinkle was in
charge of that project and to him and his staff of assistants I will be ever grateful for capturing the
essence of our tour so memorably.
A major portion of this website is devoted to the memoirs of squadron mate Lt. Roy
Stauth. They were written from memory years after our tour took place, but with such
detail, insight, humor and emotion, that you will feel as though you are actually
reliving the entire experience from beginning to end.

While his memoirs were never intended to be published, Roy has graciously permitted
their appearance here so that former squadron members and their families can have a
vivid and historic recollection of what transpired in Phu Bai during HMH-462's tour
in 1968-69.
I hope you enjoy browsing through this on-line yearbook. If you have any comments
or suggestions for improvement of the site, please send an e-mail by clicking on the
